KEMPTON FILLIES
While other racecourses concentrate on extravagant hats and the best and worst dressed race-goers, one course has enlisted the help of two unusual ‘model’ representatives to promote their Ladies Day.
Kempton Park has recruited two of its finest fillies – Moral (chestnut) and Robyn (white) – who have been groomed to perfection with the help of international hair stylist Sascha Breuer to become the ‘mane’ attraction at the racecourse on Saturday 5th September.
The equine models took over eight hours each to style as Breuer, who’s better known for his fashion shoots, worked his way through sixteen hair pieces and over two cans of hairspray during the day-long photoshoot.
Sascha Breuer, international hair stylist, comments:
“This is definitely the strangest photoshoot I’ve been involved with. It wasn’t easy styling the two fillies who were intent on ruffling up their manes at every opportunity but the results were worth the hard work.
“Both horses looked great and loved all the pampering and attention. There was no diva-like behaviour – certainly the best behaved ‘models’ I’ve ever worked with.”
Breuer has worked with celebrities and supermodels from across the globe including the likes of Naomi Campbell, Jerry Hall, Eva Hertzigova and Elle McPherson and leading fashion photographers such as Rankin, Peter Lindberg and Laurie Bartley.
Amy Starkey, managing director of Kempton Park racecourse, comments: “The idea for this photoshoot came from images released by an Australian photographer earlier in the year. We loved the idea of styling some of our own ‘Kempton Fillies’ and looked to one of the world’s best stylists for his help.
“We’re hoping the images will inspire women to glam up for Ladies Day at the course in September.”
The images will be used as part of Kempton Park’s advertising campaign to promote Ladies Day which will take place on Saturday 5th September at the racecourse. Gates open at 12.30pm and the event will include an afternoon of racing and live music.
